Join us for a presentation by historian Prof. Dr. Alexis Schwarzenbach on “The Friendship between the Hermann Siber and Furukawa Ichibei.”

Drawing on Hermann Siber’s correspondence, Prof. Schwarzenbach examines how early Swiss-Japanese trade relied not only on family business networks but also on crucial transcontinental friendships. He highlights the bond between the co-founder of Siber & Brennwald (later SiberHegner, today part of DKSH) and the founder of the Furukawa Group.
