We’re more than just a club – we’re a vibrant community that brings a piece of Switzerland to the heart of Japan’s capital.

Who We Are

The Swiss Club Tokyo serves as one of the three pillars of the Swiss community in Tokyo, alongside the Swiss Embassy and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan. Whether you’re a Swiss expat who’s been calling Tokyo home for years, someone on a short-term assignment, or anywhere in between, we’re here to keep that special connection to Switzerland alive.

Our Mission

We believe that distance shouldn’t diminish the bonds to Switzerland. That’s why we work to provide a meaningful cultural bridge to Switzerland for everyone in our community. From families wanting to share Swiss traditions with their children to individuals seeking familiar faces and flavors from home, we welcome all who have ties to Switzerland – whether by birth, heritage, or simply a genuine love for our beautiful country.

What We Do

Our monthly Stammtisch is the heart of our community – a relaxed get-together where members catch up, newcomers can easily integrate, and conversations flow in whatever language feels most comfortable, from Swiss German to French, Italian, Rumantsch or English.

Each December, we host a traditional Christmas celebration that’s especially magical for the children in our community, keeping those cherished Swiss holiday traditions alive even here in Tokyo. 

As the year winds down, our more formal Year End Party brings together members of the Swiss Club Tokyo and members of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry to reflect on shared memories and toast to new beginnings.

When the mood strikes and the weather cooperates, we also organize nature hikes to explore beautiful landscapes or urban walks to discover hidden corners of Tokyo together. And there’s nothing quite like a picnic to bring out that sense of Gemütlichkeit, even in a Tokyo park.

The Heart of Our Community

One of our greatest strengths is our incredible network of long-term residents who’ve navigated life in Tokyo and are always eager to share their wisdom. Moving to a new country can feel overwhelming, many of our members are here to help with everything from finding the best raclette cheese in the city to understanding the Japanese bureaucracy. We’ve all been there, and we’re here to support each other.
